Some of the lessons I’ve made are about creating Korean Natural Farming inputs out of household ingredients. In order to use them, dilute them each to one or two teaspoons per gallon with non-chlorinated water and use them to water your plants.
There are certain dilutions and combinations of these inputs that are supposed to be used at different stages of growth. I currently have plants in all stages of growth mixed together in the garden, so I’m just using all of the inputs that I have. If you have a mono-crop or most of your crops are at the same stage, use the calculator app below to see which inputs to use at what dilution.
If you have chlorinated water, you should either use a hose filter or leave the water in an open tank overnight before adding the inputs to evaporate the chlorine. Chlorine will kill the probiotics that you are trying to add to your garden. If you have a large water tank and an aerator you can mix them with the dechlorinated water and bubble them overnight before use. This step allows the probiotics to multiply and increases the bioavailability of your nutrients, but it’s not necessary.
Watering with the inputs once per week is good for maintaining the soil. The diluted mixture can also be used as a foliar spray. High-intensity operations spray with it as often as once per hour and have phenomenal results. Just don’t increase the concentration of the inputs beyond what is recommended or they may harm your plants.
If you don’t have KNF inputs but want to add nutrients and probiotics, there are plenty of easily accessible commercial products like fish emulsion, liquid kelp, and effective microorganisms that can be diluted and sprayed in the same way. Just follow the instructions on the bottle.
